New Year Refresh Ideas

I really enjoy making small goals for myself throughout the year with a few built in challenges at the beginning of the New Year. I find if you make such large commitments starting January 1st then you are destined to not live up to them. New Year’s Resolutions don’t have to be grand, it can just be organizing something or taking time for yourself.

Organize

New Year

Organizing can be a daunting task but it can also help you get rid of clutter for your New Year goal! If there is a space in your home that needs a pick me up there are numerous helpful website to help you figure out how to organize including Pinterest and TikTok. Personally, I don’t want to spend a small fortune on plastic organizers so I get mine from Walmart or Amazon. These websites also have great return policies. I tend to buy numerous container sizes to see what will fit perfectly in a space then return the rest. Take your time while organizing everything, it doesn’t need to be an overnight process.

New Beauty Product

New Year

I usually have my set of beauty products for years, hence the very few blog posts I have about beauty. This year I really want to try one new product a month. I know these products can be rather expensive so I really want to limit how much I am buying. I get most of my beauty tips from Emily Gemma, she is absolutely stunning and always has the latest and greatest products. There are hundreds of thousands of beauty bloggers now so just pick one that meets the look you want and try out a product or two! I feel like trying these new products can be super exciting so I will be sharing my review on the products I buy. This month I am going to try the Ouai Treatment Mask for Thick Hair.

Desk Accessories and Stationary

We all spend numerous hours working every day usually in the same spot, so why not make it aesthetically pleasing? I have to admit my work desk is very boring and plain. This year I am going to buy new stationary and desk accessories to brighten it up! My office also has no windows so I feel like I need to add some pops of color. I am a huge fan of stationary, planners, and to-do lists so this will definitely bring me joy at the workplace. I typically buy custom stationary for gifts but this time I am going to buy it for myself to keep organized.

Small Workout Goal

Everyone should workout at their own pace. Going from no movement to working out 5 days a week isn’t feasible. Think about what you are doing now and just add maybe 1-2 activities into your week. Slowly these activities will become routine and you may want to add more! For me personally, I use exercise as a way to decrease my anxiety. I workout between 4-6 days per week but keep in mind I have been running long distance since I was about 11-12 years old. Some of my workouts are a 20-30 minute Peloton ride with a 10 minute arm exercise. I recently wanted to start incorporating weight lifting into my routine so I downloaded the FitBod app on my phone. My goal is to incorporate two weight lifting exercises per week. For my mental health, I workout extremely diligently so I actually stopped focusing on the scale last year as I found it to be trigger for me. I haven’t weighed myself since last September!

Read a Book

During the COVID pandemic, I would literally read a book a week on my commute to work. As everything started opening back up and social media was revived again, I stopped reading and just started getting distracted. For me personally, I need to decrease my screen time. My mind was more at peace everyday when I felt my mind could escape to a different storyline. I want to make it a goal to read 20 books this year! I am a sucker for the physical copy of books so I just ordered four on Amazon today.

My favorite books include the following:

  • I Am Pilgram
  • Lion’s Game
  • Verity
  • Perfect Marriage
  • Winter Garden
  • The Silent Patient
  • The End of Her
  • Where the Crawdad’s Sing
  • Then She was Gone
