Refresh your Work Bag

I am currently in search of a new work bag! Most people wouldn’t think of this as one of their first purchases of 2023. I have a weird goal this year to make going to work and my desk aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately over the past decade, my routine has become redundant. I actively want to try to make it a space I like going to everyday. I current use my large Longchamp handbag that I used a similar version of since 2013. Longchamp makes an excellent workbag as they hold up nicely, look clean, and you can wash them off very easily. Although I do love this bag, I find it difficult to find my items.

Tips for the Perfect Work Bag

  • Capacity: Not everyone needs a large work bag. Try to keep in mind the essentials for work so you don’t overpack. I would say think of the 5-7 items that are essential and pick a bag size based on that. Some of the handbags I linked come in different sizes when you click to the website. You don’t want a super heavy bag because if you commute you will start to have shoulder pain. In addition some bags can fit lap tops, where others cannot so just keep that in mind.
  • Durability: Make sure the fabric you buy is durable. You definitely don’t want to replace your work bag every year so stick to leather or vegan leather. Nylon can also be easy to clean and can last years if taken care of properly. You might see some of the best picks are between $250-$500. I know this does seem like a lot but buying quality fabric upfront can help save on long term costs.
  • Buy Inserts: For a lot of work bags, there are inserts available to help you easily find your items. There are numerous that are reasonably priced on Amazon for your work bag size.
  • Bag Security: Think about where or how you are traveling to get to work. If you are taking a bus or train I would highly recommend your bag have a zip close. I also would not recommend a back pack on busy trains as someone can easily unzip or keep bumping into you. If you travel to work in a car, the magnetic close or latch close bags are possible as you are at less risk of someone stealing your items.
