Winter Capsule Wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe consists of versatile pieces that you can mix and match to create numerous outfits. You can easily switch out pieces between the seasons. Typically people say you should buy higher end items for a capsule wardrobe as your cost-per-wear will be higher. Personally, I don’t like spending hundreds of dollars on a sweater but I still do appreciate quality. One of my major goals this year is to de-clutter my closet and just stick with neutral pieces to easily get dressed every day. Caroline Rector offers a 5 step process to pair down your closet:

1. Pare down your closet to 37 items.
2. Wear only those 37 items for three months.
3. Don’t go shopping during the season until…
4. During the last two weeks of the season, plan and shop for your next capsule.
5. The amount you buy for the next capsule is up to you, but less is more.

It’s really important to first make a list of what your capsule wardrobe should contain depending on your individual style. I personally like neutral pieces but if you love color attempt to create a lot of different outfits!
